Nick Von Westenholz visits Wales
The GWCT Cymru team welcomed Nick Von Westenholz GWCT’s new Chief Executive Officer to Montgomeryshire at the end of March, as Nick visits all the GWCT outstations to hear about and experience a taster of all the work being done by the varying teams across the trust. Getting an insight into the unique way the regional teams work.
Nick spent a day with the team. During the morning a snapshot of the work currently underway in Wales was presented to Nick, from the Curlew Connections Project to fundraising events, and drone work to policy, as well as the importance of the Welsh language in all our work. A lot to take in as the small team of 7 shared all the work completed to date and on the horizon for the coming year.
Owen Williams GWCT Wales Chair highlighted the hard work the team are doing on the ground in Wales, reiterating the fact that the team has only been in existence in Wales for 7 years.
After lunch Nick came on site to see the drone at work, visiting a possible curlew nesting site. It wasn’t long before two curlews were spotted by the team, and subsequently the drone was able to locate it and photograph it without any disturbance.

Thank you for visiting us Nick, we look forward to welcoming you back soon!
