GWCT Wales at the Anglesey Show 2025 – A Great First Year

This year marked the first time the GWCT attended the Anglesey Show, what a brilliant two days it turned out to be. As it’s the largest agricultural show in North Wales, it brought together farmers, land managers, rural businesses and the wider community. It was a fantastic opportunity for us to share our work and meet so many new faces.

We were delighted to showcase the work being done on Anglesey through the Farmland Biodiversity project, which was a key talking point with many of the farmers who visited the stand. Alongside this, we highlighted a range of other projects from across Wales, giving visitors an insight into the breadth of GWCT’s conservation work.

Our drone display proved very popular, helping us explain how we use technology in our research. We also brought along other pieces of equipment from other projects, giving a real feel for the practical side of our work.

For younger visitors, we made sure there was plenty to keep them busy. Children enjoyed making cartridge flowers and had a selection of colouring activities, while parents and grandparents took the opportunity to learn more about GWCT’s work.

Our stand was located inside the Jones Brothers Pavilion, as we anticipated rain on at least one of the two days. However, it was quite the opposite, with both days being hot and sunny. In fact, being indoors worked out great as the pavilion provided a cool comfortable space for people to come and chat while enjoying some well needed refreshments on the stand.

We are grateful to everyone who visited us across the two days, whether to talk about farming and conservation, to hear about our projects or simply the children enjoying the activities. Attending the Anglesey Show for the first time has been a great experience, we look forward to building on all the connections made and hopefully see everyone there again next year.
