Dovey Valley 2026

Thank you to the Ceredigion committee and all who made it to this year’s Dovey Valley Clay Shoot on the 8th March! All 52 of you helped us raise £1084 for supporting GWCT Cymru and our conservation and research work that is essential for farmland and wildlife.

The fog created an interesting setting for the clay shoot. There were 12 stands with a mix of challenges and skill levels, totaling a maximum score of 100.

We would like to congratulate our winners:

  1. Joint 1st winners, Sam Linington and Micheal C. Jones, scored 94 each. They won A day’s shooting of mixed sim/duck drives 2026/2027 season, from Dovey Valley and Cambrian Birds.
  1. Matt Bodfish and Iwan Evans both scored 86, so came joint 2nd and received GWCT Standard year-long memberships.
  1. Elwyn Biddulph and Alex Biddulph each scored 66, putting them both at Glorious 12th winning a slab of steel no.7 cartridges given by Andrew Venables.
  1. In last place ‘clay conservationist’, Hedd Roberts, who received a Dovey Valley shooting lesson from Dovey Valley and Cambrian Birds.

The day finished with a raffle as well as, the winning bid being announced for Owen Williams’ newest artwork. This was followed by final words from committee Chairman, Susan Loxdale, Director of Wales, Lee Oliver, and Wales Chairman, Owen Williams, to further emphasise our gratitude to the ongoing support from everyone who attended.

Our marque outside offered a crafting workshop. Throughout the day, we invited people to make and keep their own feather badge, made from recycled cartridges, string and pheasant feathers. So, everyone had the opportunity to have a keepsake to remember the day by.
